Eating Your Way Through Berlin!
Wednesday, April 12th
Klang is happily located in Berlin, the capital of Germany. One of the coolest parts of being in Berlin, and Kreuzberg in particular, is the fact that we are surrounded by so much amazing food! From street food to fine dining, Berlin offers a variety of options to satisfy any culinary craving. In this blog post, we will explore some of the highlights of Berlin’s food scene.
Street Food
One of the best ways to explore Berlin’s food scene is through its street food. There are many food markets and festivals throughout the city you can enjoy. One of our favorites is Kreuzberg’s Markthalle Neun, which hosts its “Street Food Thursday” every Thursday, from 17:00 to 22:00. Here you can find everything from Chinese bao (dumplings) to homemade pasta, and everything in between! Other classic street foods found around town include Currywurst, a sausage served with curry ketchup, and Döner kebab, a Turkish dish made with grilled meat and vegetables.
Vegan and Vegetarian Options
Although German food is notorious for being very meat-heavy, Berlin has become a hub for vegan and vegetarian food options! There are numerous restaurants and cafes dedicated to plant-based cuisine, such as Kopps, a vegan fine dining restaurant, and Vöner, a vegan kebab shop. Even non-vegans can appreciate the delicious flavors and creativity in these dishes.
International Cuisine
Berlin’s international food scene is diverse and extensive. There are many restaurants serving cuisines from all over the world, such as Korean, Vietnamese, Turkish, and Lebanese. If you’re in the mood for Yemenite cuisine, try Jemenitisches Restaurant, known for its delicious stews and flatbread. If you’re in the mood to try Georgian food, head over to Ambavi Berlin, and don’t forget to try the Khachapuri Atcharuli (a delicious baked flatbread filled with Georgian soft cheese and egg).
Fine Dining
For those looking for a more upscale dining experience, Berlin has several options for fine dining. Restaurant Tim Raue awarded two Michelin stars, serves modern Asian cuisine with a focus on seafood. Another Michelin-starred restaurant is Nobelhart & Schmutzig, which sources its ingredients exclusively from local farmers and producers. The tasting menu changes weekly, which means a unique dining experience every time!
Dynamic and Ever-Changing
Berlin's food scene is constantly evolving, with new and dynamic restaurants and eateries popping up all the time. From trendy cafes to innovative pop-up restaurants, there is always something new to try! The city's diverse cultural influences and entrepreneurial spirit have fostered a creative and experimental food culture. This means that even established restaurants are constantly reinventing their menus and trying out new concepts. Berlin's food scene is a reflection of the city's vibrant energy and willingness to embrace change, making it an exciting destination for foodies and culinary adventurers alike.
Whether you’re looking for street food, fine dining, or a wide variety of international flavors, Berlin has it all. So, next time you’re in the city, be sure to explore its culinary offerings and maybe discover your new favorite dish!
